Medycyna estetyczna jest dynamicznie rozwijającą się gałęzią medycyny, a szczególne miejsce zajmuje w niej estetyka twarzy skupiająca wiedzę z zakresu różnych specjalności. Stałe ulepszenie istniejących procedur oraz pojawienie się nowych biomateriałów czy technik bioinżynieryjnych (terapia fotodynamiczna, nanocząstki, spektroskopia, obrazowanie nieinwazyjne) rewolucjonizuje medycynę estetyczną twarzy, oferując alternatywę i wsparcie dla tradycyjnych działań chirurgicznych. Obecnie klinicyści mogą dostosować leczenie do indywidualnych potrzeb pacjenta, leczyć wiele obszarów twarzy, stosując kombinację produktów/technik w celu optymalizacji wyników terapii.
